- How's the CFS or flow rate? At Wet Dreams we update a whiteboard at our store every day, however, here are the resources you need to check yourself.
PaddleWays by NRS - Paid but one of the best on the markets right now.
- What should I know for the town float?
- Put-In & Take-Out Locations– Know where you'll be launching and where you'll be taking out before you get on the water. Planning your route ahead of time helps ensure you don't miss your take-out and end up paddling upstream or floating farther than intended. Check out Save-A-Life Jacket for interactive maps.
- Timeframes - Give yourself plenty of time. Trip durations vary depending on the section of river, the distance you're traveling, your type of watercraft, and how much you want to paddle versus float.
- Personal Floatation Devices (PFDs) - We recommend wearing your PFD at all times. At a minimum, every watercraft must have a properly fitting PFD on board for each person.
- Inner Tube - If you're floating in an inner tube, consider bringing a paddle. Some sections of the river have slower-moving water, and a paddle can help you navigate and keep moving.
- Stand-Up Paddleboards (SUPs) - Before launching, make sure your fin (skeg) is securely attached. You may encounter shallow sections where the fin drags on the bottom. If you hear scraping, it's best to get off and walk your board to avoid damage.
- Shuttle - Arrange your shuttle before you launch. Options include Rimrock Adventures in Fruita, Sunshine Rides, or a self-shuttle. If you're using a self-shuttle, don't forget to bring your keys and keep them secure and dry.
- Rigging - Secure all gear to your watercraft and store valuables in dry bags. You never know when your craft might tip over, and it's much easier to recover gear that's attached than to chase flip-flops or water bottles downstream. If you don't have a dry bag, placing items in freezer-grade zip-top bags inside another sealed bag is an affordable alternative, though it isn't guaranteed to keep everything dry.
